Renowned filmmaker Abel Mutua has advised his fans to avoid being influenced by the lavish lifestyles that some people display on social media.

Why social media shouldn't fool you

In a video he shared on his TikTok account, the scriptwriter urged his fans to focus on their hustle and not compare themselves with others.

He said that social media can be misleading and that only a few people do legitimate businesses.

“I just want to educate you that there are things you will see on social media. People live like kings. And you will really admire being like them, but the truth is that only a few of them are doing legit business—only a few of them. And the majority knows exactly where that money has come from and in most cases, the money is not from legit business. So you don’t worry just do your hustle; it will pay off. That other group will face the wrath,” he said.

Why did Abel Mutua slam local media house?

Previously, Abel called out a local media house for publishing unverified information about him and his business partner, Philip Karanja, alias Phil Director.

The media outlet had reported that the duo was set to receive a substantial payout of at least $60,000 (KSh 8.8 million) from selling their 2020 movie, Click Click Bang, to Netflix, the famous American video-on-demand streaming platform.

However, Abel categorically denied the accuracy of these reports.

In a since-deleted tweet, Abel questioned the source of the figures, explaining that there was no basis for such claims.

He urged the media station to uphold professionalism and promptly remove the article.

"This is so low of you. Where did you get these figures from? Who has even talked to you about anything? Style up. You, of all people, should know better. Take down this nonsense, please," he stated.
