Kigoma province police commander Philemon Makungu said the case was not strange, as two similar incidents happened.
"We have followed all these incidents, and it needs to be confirmed scientifically that we have taken tests to the chief chemist, yet we have not been brought answers. When they are brought, we will give complete details, but we continue investigating these two incidents. To know more deeply to know the truth of the dead and the one who was picked up alive," he said.
The news sparked mixed reactions among social media users who shared hilarious views.
Dada Mkuu:
"We bury most of our people; it is just their shadow, but if you don't believe in this, you won't understand."
Bethi Msigwa:
"Bring out their pictures before and after so that the truth is known to each other. The grave should be dug up, and what do you have inside? The answer will come out."
ManuvaSon Dot MneliSon:
"There is no such thing as that."
Fauzia Hamadi
"The one who was resurrected is only Jesus. The rest of you are from Zumaridi. Please do not confuse us. We are busy with Hanang for now."
Sadock Tanditse
"For everyone who wants to be resurrected quickly before Jesus comes back, there is a place in Kasulu or Kigoma."
In a similar story, a family was puzzled as a child they believed to have buried was seen alive in another village.
Wilson Bulabo, who said he witnessed the child's death after he fell ill, was shocked to see the boy in a neighbouring village.
The child was found in the Mwangika village, and his father positively identified him to his utter shock.
Mwanza police commander Mwanza Wilbroad Mutafungwa called for calm as the exhumation of the grave happened.
