Annie Nakushwela worked as a security guard for many years, but her eyes were set on a bigger prize: nursing.

Annie knew she needed the salary from the guard's job, as little as it was, to sponsor herself through college and obtain her nursing qualification.

Dreams to reality

The dream became a reality when she recently landed a job as a nurse after receiving her letter of employment from the Minister of Health, Sylvia Masebo.

Mwebantu reports that the determined health professional will soon be joining the staff at Chirundu District Hospital.

Annie met the minister, who praised her for her remarkable achievement and dedication in what seemed like a hopeless situation.

“This young lady is an inspiration to all the young people who have a dream to become someone. Truly dreams do come true with sacrifice and hard work, congratulations on your new job,” Ms Masebo said.

Annie hopes to inspire others

Annie said she was overjoyed by the opportunity and thanked the minister for her support.

“I had a dream and despite the hardship, mockery and difficulties, I stayed focused and determined. Today, my journey to that dream has hit another milestone. I am so so happy,” she said.

Annie added that there was a lot of crying behind the scenes of her success story, but she is glad that is over now.

Having risen from the bottom, she hopes to inspire others to pursue their goals and make a difference in their communities.

Watchman becomes journalist

In another inspiring story, Chams Media founder Alex Chamwada recently shared that he was excited after the young man he sponsored through KIMC finally graduated.

The veteran broadcaster paid Bwabi's fees and lectured his class as a guest lecturer whenever called upon.

Bwabi, who performed well in class, now works as a photographer at the company he once guarded and is doing very well.
