Kiambu Woman Says Mum Disowned Her After Refusing To Get Married To 70-Year-Old Man

• When Susan Njoki returned to Kenyan from Saudi Arabia, she came empty-handed as her boss had not paid her for months
• In a bid to cover the shame, her mother proposed that Njoki get married to a wealthy 70-year-old man
• Njoki from Kiambu refused the offer that would make her the man's second wife, leading to her mother rejecting her

Kiambu - A young lady who returned from Saudi Arabia following mistreatment by her employer has opened up about her relationship with her mother.

Susan Njoki returned home without money as her Saudi boss had not paid her salary for months.

To cover Njoki's shame and embarrassment as she returned home empty-handed, her mother made a proposal to her.

Refuse offer to be second wife

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Njoki said her mother wanted her to get married to an old man who was old enough to be her grandfather.

"I could not agree to that. I never met the man but was told he was over 70. He was rich and had everything, yes, but I could not give in to my mother's proposal.

I not only could get married to such an old man, but also I could not stand being his second wife," Njoki from Kiambu, who claimed she was shut in a freezer by her boss, said.

Lack of support from mum

After turning down the proposal, Njoki said her mother abandoned her, claiming she refused to support her.

Njoki said her mother disowned Njoki for not agreeing to marry the 70-year-old man.

"I have struggled alone, especially in my third relationship where my husband was abusive. I tried to talk to my mum to talk to my in-laws, but she refused because I rejected her first proposal. I have been suffering alone as she turned my other family members against me.

When I told them about my challenges, they refused to believe me because my mother had brainwashed them, and they never listened to me," the young lady narrated.

Abandoned by parents, hubby

Still in Kiambu, a woman emotionally narrated being abandoned by her mum, dad and husband.

Mary Wambui said she had never experienced genuine love since she was young when her parents abandoned her.

The 23-year-old lady also recalled being dumped by her husband after he impregnated her for the second time.

She expressed how she longed for love, especially from her mother, who left her in the hands of her father.
