Nakuru: 4 Killed, Scores Injured After Msamaria Mwema Shuttle Collides With Bus

Nakuru - Four people have been killed following a horrible accident involving a bus and a matatu along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway.

On the morning of Monday, December 18, a Nakuru-bound matatu belonging to Msamaria Shuttle Ltd. collided head-on with a 60-seater bus at the Hill Tea area.

What caused Nakuru accident?

"Four people lost their lives on December 18, 2023 at around 0500hrs, through a tragic road accident involving a Nakuru-bound matatu belonging to Msamaria Shuttle Ltd after the said motor vehicle lost control, colliding head-on with an oncoming 60-seater bus at Hill Tea Area along Eldoret- Nakuru Road," National Police Service said in a statement.

According to the police, four people died on the spot, among them a driver and three passengers, while nine others were seriously injured.

"The matatu was carrying 16 passengers at the time of the accident, which claimed the lives of the driver and three other passengers that died on the spot. Nine other passengers were seriously injured," the statement added.

Those injured were rushed to Eldama Ravine Sub-County Referral Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the same facility.

The National Police Service urged motorists and all other road users to exercise extreme caution while on the roads, especially during this rainy season.

What police said about the Makueni accident

In other sad news, ten people died in a bloodbath after the vehicle they were in lost control on the evening of Saturday, December 16.

The 14-seater matatu veered off the Kikima-Kali road before rolling at a spot in the Kwa Mbisu area in Mbooni West.

Stanislaus Apwoka, the deputy county commissioner of Mbooni West, confirmed the tragic occurrence.

The ill-fated matatu, owned by Makos Sacco, was destined for Machakos from Kikima. The injured were rushed to the Mbooni Sub-County Hospital.
