A Tanzanian family has been left devastated after seven children lost their lives after ingesting poison, reportedly placed in their food by a neighbour they offended.
The motive behind this shocking act of violence stemmed from the neighbour's anger over the alleged theft of his chicken by the children of the victimised family.
The tragic incident, which occurred in November 2023, came to light as a report by Tanzania's Millard Ayo detailed the gruesome aftermath.

The local police commissioner confirmed the disturbing details, stating:
"An terryfying incident occurred that shook our region."
"The goal was revenge, and all the accused have confessed to participating in this act, stating that they were hurt by the children eating their chicken," he added.
The accused neighbour, fueled by a sense of retribution, reportedly laced the victims' food with poison.
The consequences were devastating, resulting in the loss of seven lives and leaving four others in a bad state of health.
The brutality of the act has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting condemnation from the local police.
"It is unacceptable for one rooster to lead to the deaths of seven people and injuries to four others; we will not have mercy on them," Kagera police commander remarked.
One of the suspects attempted to evade justice by seeking refuge in Burundi but was subsequently apprehended.
The suspects claimed that their extreme actions were a response to the victimised family's failure to offer an apology for the alleged theft of the chicken.
In a related story, a tragic incident unfolded in Namibia, where fifteen members of the same family lost their lives after consuming porridge believed to be contaminated with toxic substances.
Authorities suspect that the porridge became poisonous when mixed with sediment from homemade beer.
The Namibian National Post reported that several individuals remain in critical condition and are receiving treatment in the hospital.
The Ministry of Health and Social Services of Namibia issued a statement revealing that the incident occurred on May 27 in Kayova village, located in the Kavango East region.
