He was a 6'8″ power forward who played at Coolidge High School. Washington played his college basketball for American University where he was a Consensus second-team All-American. He was drafted #5 by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1973 NBA Draft and played for the Lakers from 1973 to 1977.
Washington played for the Boston Celtics from 1977 to 1978 and for the San Diego Clippers from 1978 to 1979. He played for the Portland Trail Blazers from 1979 to 1982 and for the Golden State Warriors from 1987 to 1988.
