Trans Nzoia - When Adelle Kayla Areng became choosy with the kind of clothing she wished to wear at the tender age of three, her mother had no clue that her daughter had just begun her modelling journey.

Adelle's mother Mercy Kirior, said she took her daughter's dressing choosy nature for naughtiness; little did she know that her young daughter already identified a path she wanted to pursue in life.

The five-year-old, who is a pre-primary pupil at Littik Academy in Cherang'any constituency, Trans Nzoia county perfected her talent by honing her skills at the institution.

"I realised my daughter had developed an interest in modelling when I noticed her choice of dressing. How she poses for photos and her confidence in talking and walking. That's why I decided to get her a professional coach," her mother told TUKO.co.ke in an interview.

What Adelle Kayla Areng's mother advised other parents

The supportive mother, who is a nurse by profession, challenged parents to support their kids to pursue their talents in line with the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) instead of scolding them.

On her part, Adelle told this writer that she was inspired by the love for her Turkana culture and the modelling shows that she watched on television on top of her natural love for a specific choice of clothes.

"I have always been passionate about modelling and I am glad that my mother has been supportive of my talent. I am also glad that this has become a reality," she said in the interview.

Adelle has shined in several modelling competitions including Tiny Miss Environment Trans Nzoia County where she emerged as the Second Runners up and has also won Little Miss Popularity in Western Kenya Region.

Others include Little Miss/ Mr Kenya. She is the reigning Mini Miss Kenya Trans Nzoia County as well as Mini Miss Popularity Trans Nzoia 2023.

Her Upcoming Events include: Little Mr and Miss Environment Kenya (Nationals) to be held at Weston Hotel, Nairobi this August, and Little Miss/Mr. Kenya Nationals to be held later in November 2023.

She also revealed plans to hold a charity tour in her home county of Turkana aimed at supporting the less-privileged members of society.

Her teacher Naomi Barkeben said Adelle is a very social and interactive pupil who is always courageous during learning activities.

Berkeben said she participates in school co-curriculum events where she takes part in cat walking, poems, and, songs among others.

She also has an environmental conservation project at the school where she engages fellow pupils in tree planting and flower gardening.

"I have been close to her to enhance her modelling techniques and she is doing well. We hope she will take it up a career and fly our Kenyan flag high," said Barkeben.

Her coach Melody Wegesa was full of praise for Adelle saying her quest to learn is evident in her inquisitive nature and the willingness to put to practice all the new things she learns.

"I am a coach and one of the directors of a co-curricular center called MD. I'm pursuing Child Psychology. I started working with Adelle in January 2023 after meeting her in December 2022 during the Mr and Miss Environment Trans Nzoia County fete," said Wegesa.

She said Adelle is one of the most serious and passionate models she has worked with and she loves the runway so much.

"In these few months, she has learned how to walk so well and so fast. I think she's going to own the runway someday," the coach further said.

According to the coach, Adelle is a very intelligent girl, and they are confident that if they continue on the right track, she will rise to stardom by becoming a global star.

She mentioned that she possesses the necessary energy and receives the right support by letting her engage in numerous projects, particularly in charity.

Wesege said Adelle has shown significant support for early childhood education and is currently working on organising a charity tour in that field.

"Adelle supports a child with sickle cell anemia by providing a weekly subscription of fruits to her. I believe that Adelle is destined for success based on her modelling prowess which we believe shall catapult her to the world stage," the coach further said.

Taking to TikTok, Joshua shed tears, wondering whether it had become bad for one to have dreams.

The young man admitted that modelling is not for the weak and said he is tired. To showcase his skill, he did a quick catwalk.

His video blew up as many netizens showed him support.
