City-Based Kenyan Woman Baffled By Progress Of Ushago Agemates: "Wamejenga"

A Kenyan woman based in the city has been stunned by the progress made by her village counterparts.

What surprised Nairobi woman in village?

Via Instagram, @ydiawanjiru.ke said she went upcountry, and her age mates had made significant moves in life.

"You come to ushago and find that younger cousin you left in Form One is married and with two kids," Wanjiru said while walking around the compound.

She then narrated some of the other changes she witnessed.

“Shortly after, you learn that the guy you completed school with bought a car, built a home, and bought cattle, chicken, and goats. He is also married and has five kids.

Then you are told the girl you went to school with travelled abroad and sent money. They show you the plot she bought and built a multi-storeyed building.”

Wanjiru then wondered about the secret behind their development, saying she was ready to return to the village.

“What is the secret? I thought it was staying in Nairobi, looking for money. I am considering returning to the village because people are getting rich while I am in Nairobi.”
