Ibrahim Ambwere is one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs in Western Kenya and became a billionaire despite not having a formal education.

His story is the typical grass to grace, having lost both parents at a young age and doing menial jobs for a living.

The Vihiga native, who once offered to pay all teachers, rose to own numerous commercial buildings in major towns. TUKO.co.ke listed some of the properties owned by Ambwere.

1. Ambwere Complex

The building located in Kakamega on the way to Bukhungu Stadium was Ambwere's first major commercial building in the town.

Ambwere complex features several multi-storey buildings with commercial tenants ranging from supermarkets to offices.

2. Ambwere Plaza, Kakamega

Also located in Kakamega town, it was the second commercial building built by the tycoon in the CBD.

It is near the town clock, a short distance from the county headquarters.

Some of Ambwere's tenants include Equity Bank, Western FM and the Standard Group.

3. Ambwere Fraha Centre

The blue building is next to the CBD's famous Muliro Gardens.

Ambwere Fraha Centre is the most recent commercial building by Ambwere in the town.

It hosted the Jomo Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a major wholesale among other businesses.

4. Ambwere Plaza, Kitale

The building with the same name as that in Kakamega is opposite Kitale Police Station.

Ambwere seemingly loves the town in Trans Nzoia and also owns a mansion in the area.

The massive two-storey building was constructed using decorative stones and features a lush lawn, a huge water tank and several garages.

5. Ambwere Alliance Hotel Vihiga

The tycoon also invested in his home area of Vihiga.

He owns the posh Ambwere Alliance Hotel in Chavakali, along the Kisumu- Kakamega highway.

The three-storey, maroon building also has a wholesale shop.

Chris Kirubi's car collection

TUKO.co.ke previously reported that Chris Kirubi's car collection was valued at over KSh 90 million.

The late business mogul was the first known Kenyan to own a Mercedes Maybach.

Other cars in his collection included Bentley and Range Rover.
