In Uganda Under Museveni 'Mambo Ni Matatu', Bobi Wine's Speech In Geneva Tickles Kenyans

Uganda's opposition leader Bobi Wine's speech in Geneva has generated a lot of reactions among Kenyans on social media.

What did Bobi Wine say about Museveni's leadership

A video of the musician-turned-politician surfaced online, where he narrated how President Yoweri Museveni was allegedly oppressing Ugandans.

During the 2022 Geneva Summit for Human Rights and Democracy, Wine said vying against Museveni meant three things for any Ugandan.

According to the politician, Ugandans opposing Museveni on the ballot should be ready to go to prison, be forced into exile or be killed.

"In 2019, I announced I was going to run for presidency. Now under General Museveni, that means three things. It either means prison, being forced into exile, or death. But we were ready for all that. And yes, that is exactly what happened," the politician said.

The emergence of the clip elicited reactions from Kenyans, especially, coming a few days after President William Ruto said cartels in the country have three options under his administration.

Some Kenyans suggested that Ruto might have borrowed the phrase from the Ugandan president, given their close friendship.

William Ruto defends his remarks on sugar cartels

Meanwhile, President Ruto defended his controversial remarks regarding how he plans to deal with sugar cartels.

During the official opening of Kenya Medical Training College, Navakholo Campus, Kakamega county, Ruto justified his tough stance on cartels in the sugar sector.

Despite criticism from the opposition and human rights activists, Ruto said his resolve to fight corruption in the country is unstoppable.

While repeating the same controversial remarks, Ruto insisted that the corrupt must change tact or be punished.

"Let me repeat so that they hear well, I have said corrupt cartels who are stealing from Kenyans, who brought Mumias and Nzoia Sugar companies down and are now behaving bullish must vacate Kenya. Wil will deal with them firmly. And I have said that if they do not change, they should vacate the country, if not, they will go to jail or they should pack their thing and go to heaven," Ruto said as the crowd cheered.
