Ongata Rongai - A depressed father is heartbroken after his son, who was making progress in his health, suffered a setback.
Bernard Mwangi Murimi noted his bubbly son Dylan Jerome Mwangi began being sick in 2022. He started having recurring infections, leading to his enlarged adenoid's surgical removal.
This was a routine procedure, but the blood tests done during the process would shock the boy's whole family, as he told TUKO.co.ke.

"Mwangi was diagnosed with leukaemia in November 2022 and has since received chemotherapy treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). He has bravely pushed through his complex treatment, fought an infection that almost led to the loss of eyesight and battled many side effects of his treatment, and at some point, the leukaemia was in remission.
"Unfortunately, the most recent bone marrow tests at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi have shown that leukaemia is back. The medical team has advised Mwangi’s parents (my brother and his wife) to consider more intensive treatment as a stem cell transplant," he shared.
The loving and caring father also admitted to struggling to care for his little one. The Kajiado father said his health deteriorated as he struggled to look after his sick boy.
"My emotions go up and down throughout his treatment at KNH. Some days I feel like I am coping, and other times, I feel completely lost or out of control. As a parent taking care of a child with cancer, I have experienced anxiety, depression and parental stress, psychosocial distress, and burnout, often leading to a deterioration of my mental well-being," he pointed out.
Contributions towards Mwangi's treatment can be channelled to paybill 625625, account number 2615453.
In a rather heartbreaking story, a man bedridden for months disclosed his dad also had hypertension.
At 22, Hosea Muruka was headed for his prime and finding himself, but those years were wasted with him tucked in a bed.
To begin with, he was diagnosed with leukaemia and spent much of his time at KNH.
Secondly, his 63-year-old father had hypertension while his brother went missing during the post-election violence and was never heard from again.
