Kakamega- A young Kakamega man has excitedly revealed that he is now a proud homeowner after saving his earnings to finance the project.

Twenty-one-year-old Brighton Butichi could not help but express his excitement as the permanent home he is building in Kakamega is now in its home stretch.

Speaking exclusively to TUKO.co.ke, Butichi narrated that before landing the cleaning job in the county government offices, he initially worked as a boda boda rider.

"In 2019, I was in Form Three when I dropped out of school. I started hustling as a boda boda rider before I got a chance to work in the county government offices. I initially started out as a watchman before I got the chance to work in the county offices as a cleaner," he recalled.

The 21-year-old said living with his parents allowed him to save his salary and also started building his own house.

"I built on the land that my dad gave me, and the house has cost me around KSh 1.2 million. I know by the end of the year I will have managed to finish it," he said.

Bungoma man builds own house

In a separate story, a Bungoma man proudly celebrated building his own house years after living in a single room constructed by his father.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke Dennis Wanjala revealed the construction of the four-roomed house cost him KSh 100,000.

Wanjala said he had dreams of building himself a better house after saving some money from his customer care job at a health facility and other side hustles, including a barber shop, brand influencing and content creation.

"I used to live in a small single-room house that my dad built for me after high school. That structure, as it appears cost KSh 80,000. For finishing, another KSh 20,000," Wanjala disclosed.
