Nairobi - A woman who worked hard in Iraq to fend for her struggling family is at the brink of giving up one of her most precious projects.

Susan Akinyi Khatchina used her Iraq money to build a beautiful house for her family as their previous house was falling off.

The lady who worked as a maid for her Iraqi boss said she spent over KSh 1.4 million to build and furnish the house.

Returning to Kenya from Iraq

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the woman from Kakamega added she had bought a piece of land before building on it.

However, Khatchina, who showed off the multimillion house, said her mother whom she barely had a good relationship, was always against her.

"She would always speak evil when I don't help her, and when I do, she would remain ungrateful. When my visa expired, I returned to Kenya, and I struggled for a while as most of my money I had used in the building project and business," she said.

Taking care of five kids

A lot of burden was on her shoulder to fend for her two kids and three more from her sister, which weighed down on her.

Her feud with her mother became too much that her mother told her to vacate from where she bought land and built.

"She wants me out after I spent all the money I made in Iraq building that home. I do not quarrel with people over property, I am ready to leave that home to mum, even though she took my land and maybe forgot. I have no issue with land, God will give me money and I will build another house in Makutano. All I want is peace so that I can take care of those kids," she tearfully said.

Mother neglected by mum as infant

Earlier, she said her mother abandoned her when she was one year old.

She tearfully disclosed that her mother left her as an infant to be married off to another man, leaving Akinyi in the hands of her grandparents.

"I have never had a bond with my mother. My grandparents brought me up. My father died when I was two months old, so I never knew him," she said.

Mother abandons son as infant

Similarly, a Ugandan man abandoned by his mother as an infant built his grandmother a house before her death.

Life was difficult, but Kisekka George worked hard in school, and in 2013, he bought a piece of land and started building his house in 2014.

The engineer told NTV Uganda he was glad to have built his grandmother a house before she died.
