A Kenyan man has listed eight challenges that married couples face every seven years in marriage.

Are fights in marriage healthy?

The man claimed that the biggest red flag was looking for a partner who focuses on red flags in relationships, saying such a partner is immature and would walk out of marriage at any given time.

"There is no such thing as a marriage with a constant state of happiness. Anyone who tells you they want to be married to be happy is silly and needs to grow up. Happiness is not something that is supplied by a partner," he posted on Reddit.com.

The man went ahead to list the seven challenges every couple must deal with every seven years in marriage.

"Cheating. You will deal with one or both of you cheating if you expect to be married for life. It may be physical or emotional cheating," he said.

He also added that couples experience sickness, separation or divorce, grief, fertility issues and kids born with challenges, and drug abuse and alcoholism.

He argued that things change when the breadwinner loses their job.

"If you expect to be married for 20 or more years, you will have periods where there isn’t enough money because of unexpected job or income loss. Will you still love your partner if they can’t provide? Talk about this when dating," he said.

The post elicited mixed reactions online, and they include:

"I'm in for everything except cheating. I guess most married men, when they start cheating never become faithful again."

"This is top-shelf marriage advice. I couldn't agree with you more."

"Happiness in any relationship is important. Marriage is not about perseverance. I have seen happy, healthy marriages. And I have seen unhappy marriages that also last long. You can choose which one you want; only a fool would say Happiness is not important in a marriage."

Nebja commented:

"Before I date a girl, I always create an artificial conflict and watch how she deals with it. The immature ones will be quick to cut you off, and will have poor conflict-resolution skills. They do not have the capacity to express why they feel hurt and have the initiative to help both of you address it. Instead, they want you to profusely apologize, and make them feel that they are bigger than the relationship, until they finally let go of their pride a few days later."

"I couldn't agree more with this post, especially the cheating part is so real. People will call it pessimism, but reality is what it is."

"Without conflict, there's no love. Without conflict, there's boredom."
