High dowry demands and a looming sense of economic turbulence, coupled with statements about the beautiful ones not being born, became a shared sentiment.

"Those born in between 1990-2000 can you briefly tell us why you are not married upto now?" @omwambaKE posted.

Netizens reacted to the post, and below are some of their comments:

@JoeWMuchiri1:

"Hakuna pesa nani (Lack of money),"

@Ajuoga7:

"1. High cost of living. 2. Competition from established marriages. 3. High taxation during dowry payment. 4. Instability when smiling at your phone alone."

@SamWain30075142:

"Freedom is something important. Marriage is a lifelong prison, especially if you don't have money. Tafuta pesa mzee saa hii bomoa ukiondokea (Look for money now, spend it at your twilight years)."

@nap_nellyshiru:

"Marriage is not a bed of roses. Life has brought a lot of pressure and demands that all we do in marriage is try to solve sh*t daily in terms of bills, love fades away, and responsibilities become the main agenda. Even s*x itself becomes a task."

@simpleCollinz:

"Me trying to think why na niko 6k kwa bank." (Trying to think why I'm yet to be married while I have KSh 6,000 in my bank account).

@_Careny:

"Stiff competition from developed folks."

@danieambie44:

"Lack of finances. Strong preditors. Poor communication."

@TonyMuinda:

"Following in the right steps of Sir Charles Njonjo. He married at 52. He enjoyed life, had a great career, accumulated wealth, travelled the world and had a great family. Marriage is an institution that requires caution, respect, discipline and time."

Preacher advises women on right age to marry

Offering nuggets of wisdom on when to get married, evangelist Steven Ricky urged ladies to stop getting married in their early 20s.

Ricky said that women aged 23 have not yet gained the wisdom to read men, analyse their character or even find their path in life.

"Instead, wait till late 20's when your personality as a woman has formed to a good extend. This way you will have a clear view of your path in life, and any man dating you will know what he is dealing with," he said.
