Worshippers of All Saints Kyamwee Anglican Church in Machakos county were treated to a special wedding that comprised seven couples.

Why did the couples have a joint wedding?

According to NTV, the couples said they agreed to hold a joint ceremony so as to share the cost due to the high cost of living.

The church was filled with family and friends and church members who came to witness the couples tie the knot.

The couples made their way to the church one by one as they showcased their lovely dancing styles.

The couples, one by one, exchanged vows and fed each other cake with bare hands.

One of the grooms, 74-year-old Alphonse Mwaziri, revealed he had been married to his beautiful wife for over 50 years.

"Mimi naishi na bibi yangu kwa furaha sana (I live with my wife happily). I beseech those in my lineage to follow suit and get married in church," he said.

Joseph Mutungi, the priest who joined the seven couples, advised others

"Don't be afraid to get married in church because there is a difference between wedding in church and garden weddings," he said.

12 couple exchange vows at mass wedding

Quite a number of Kenyans have embraced the mass wedding idea. In April, 12 couples from Nyandarua went viral after exchanging vows in a mass wedding ceremony.

The event, which attracted the attention and support of the entire community, was held at the St. Teresa Equator Catholic parish in Ol-Joro Orok.

Citizen Digital reported that among those who attended was Ol-Joro Orok, Member of Parliament Michael Muchiri.

The emotion-filled ceremony was presided over by Bishop Joseph Mbatia of the Catholic Diocese of Nyahururu. Photos from the event show the couples dressed in their finest attire, standing nervously at the front of the crowd.

With the sun shining, the atmosphere turned electric as the couples began to walk down the aisle, their faces beaming with happiness.

During the preaching, Bishop Mbatia prevailed upon the couples to remain steadfast in their roles as it is the only way to maintain strong and healthy marriages.
