"I want to seek your indulgence whether we are safe in this house and the precincts of this House, given that today at around 2pm I left my phone charging in the lobby. But I later found out the phone was left and the charger had been taken away.
I want to seek your indulgence in whether we are actually safe to leave our gadgets wherever we are in this parliament. The phone is there, but there is no charger," Kiplagat said.
In a related report, nominated MP Sabina Chege claimed she lost her iPhone 14 in parliament.
During the inaugural coffee conference in Meru on Friday, June 10, Sabina said the expensive phone was stolen during the parliament sitting on Thursday, June 9, where she was injured.
The lawmaker pointed out that Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo and Kisumu West MP Rosa Buyu led the assault.
“I'll ask for permission to leave because I have to go and be attended to. I want to send Cecily Mbarire to your friends who beat me yesterday; Millie Odhiambo and Rosa Buyu. They even stole my phone. Please ask them even if they beat to please return my phone," Chege said.
Chege further told Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to intervene and return her phone so she could easily be found when needed.
During the heated session that Kiplagat lost his phone, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was also ejected from the House on orders of Shollei.
Shollei, who was chairing the proceedings, said Owino was unruly, contravening the standing orders of the legislative House.
Members deliberated on the leadership of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association (KYPA) during the Thursday afternoon session.
