Nyamira MCA Narrates Chilling Last Moments Before Accident That Claimed Colleague's Life: "Screamed Oh God"

A Nyamira Member of the County Assembly has narrated the chilling last moments that transpired in the grisly road accident that occurred on the afternoon of Monday, August 7.

The terrifying accident occurred at Maai-Mahiu on Monday, leading to the death of Nyamira County Assembly Majority Leader Elijah Osiemo, who was also the Nyamaiya ward rep.

Speaking to the press, MCA Duke Masira, who was among those injured in the accident, said that as they were almost arriving at Maai-Mahiu, a boda boda rider appeared on the road.

Masira recounted that their driver tried to overtake and unfortunately hit the rider, who was carrying charcoal.

"After that I can't quite remember what happened! The only thing I heard was Hon. Priscilla screaming 'Oh God oh God'," he said.

He said the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it veered off the road to the nearby shamba and then landed into a ditch.

"I want to pass my condolences to my brother's family. I have lost a brother and the leader of the majority whom I deputise," he said.

William Ruto mourns MCA Osiemo

President William Ruto is among those who are heartbroken following the sudden death of Nyamira County Assembly Majority Leader.

"We join the people of Nyamira in mourning the passing of County Majority Leader Elijah Osiemo following a road accident Monday evening," Ruto mourned Osiemo in a statement posted on his official Twitter account.

He also prayed for the quick recovery of Osiemo's deputy Duke Masira and nominated MCA Priscilla Nyatichi, who are all in hospital undergoing treatment.

Nyamira governor Amos Nyaribo confirmed the Monday accident as he expressed shock over the demise of a leader he described as young and efficient.

A heartbroken Nyaribo said that the county had lost a youthful, talented and industrious leader who was focused and had a lot to accomplish in future.

Nyamira county directed that the body of Osiemo be transported to Nairobi for preservation.
