Uasin Gishu - National Police Service has claimed Senator Jackson Mandago has gone into hiding after an arrest warrant was issued against him.

A Nakuru court ordered the arrest of the senator and three other officials linked to the Finland scholarship saga.

How to help police in Jackson Mandago case

In a statement, the police revealed that the former governor went underground on Tuesday, August 15.

"The National Police Service is in the process of executing a Warrant of Arrest against Uasin Gishu Senator Hon. Jackson Mandago, who has gone underground since yesterday, and calls upon the Senator to present himself at the nearest police station," the statement read.

NPS appealed to Kenyans with any information that might help in arresting the senator to report to the nearest station or use other available platforms to relay the information

"NPS further appeals to any member of public with information about Senator Mandago's whereabout to report to the nearest police station or report via our toll free numbers 999, 112, 911 and the fichua Kwa DCI 0800722203," it stated.

What are the charges facing Jackson Mandago?

The latest development comes after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution consented to prosecute Mandago and three other officials with three offences.

The other officials named by the detectives are Joseph Kipkemoi Maritim, Meshak Rono and Joshua Kipkemoi Lelei.

The Uasin Gishu senator and the three others are expected to be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, stealing and abuse of office.

According to detectives, Mandago and others are accused of conspiring to steal KSh 1. 1 billion from a Kenya Commercial Bank account in Eldoret registered under the Uasin Gishu Education Trust Fund, Nation reported.

Already a Nakuru court has issued an arrest warrant against the former Uasin Gishu governor and the three other officials.
