Body Of Kenyan Man Stuck In Qatar Morgue As Sponsor Leaves KSh 700k Repatriation Costs To Family

• The remains of Emmanuel Korir, a Kenyan gentleman, are currently held at a morgue in Qatar due to the family's inability to cover the expenses for repatriation
• Korir's sponsor has disassociated himself from the financial responsibilities, leaving the family in a state of uncertainty and indecision
• To facilitate the return of Korir's body to Kenya, the family is urgently seeking to gather KSh 700,000
• Out of that figure, KSh 500,000 will be used on repatriation while the additional KSh 200,000 is for the burial expenses in Eldoret

The body of a Kenyan man is currently stuck at a morgue in Qatar as family members struggle to raise the money needed for repatriation.

Emmanuel Korir, who is said to have died of natural courses, first left Kenya in 2016, left and went back in 2018 until his demise.

Emmanuel's sponsor uncooperative

According to sister Nelly Korir from Eldoret, their brother's sponsor has not been forthcoming in helping them towards the costs.

She told TUKO.co.ke that the the Kenyan Embassy in Qatar has tried to reach him to sponsor pay the for the repatriation in vain.

With their efforts being nought, Emmanuel's grieving family has been left to shoulder the financial burden alone.

"We've estimated the cost of bringing him home plus burial arrangements and it has come to around KSh 700,000," she said.

Emmanuel to be buried in Eldoret

Nelly explained that out of the KSh 700,000, KSh 500,000 will be spent on repatriation, while the KSh 200,000 will be used locally on burial arrangements.

She also disclosed that her brother had recently been terminated before his death, but he'd complained about not being paid his three-month salary.

"We request support from members of the public and other well-wishers to meet the burial costs for Emmanuel," the grieving sister pleaded.

Nelly revealed that they are currently raising money through a WhatsApp group in the hope that they raise enough to give their brother a decent burial in Eldoret.

Another Kenyan died in Dubai

In Dubai, an hour away across the border from Qatar, another Kenyan named Mlati Gibson Mjomba tragically lost his life in what is believed to be a microwave explosion.

The 50-year-old man known by the nickname of Obama was at his residence in Alnahda 1, Sharjah, when the fatal incident occurred.

Given that he was alone at the time of the explosion, help, regrettably, arrived after he had already passed away.

Obama's family is seeking to raise KSh 2.2 million to bring back his remains to Taita Taveta for burial.
