"We only want a refund of our money and nothing more. I have heard stories since I first paid my money, and I am very tired of them. We did not elect our leaders to tell us stories, we can get them online. We are tired.
I want to talk to the president... please fight for us. Uasin Gishu is burning... the youth are depressed. Please, please... together with your office, fight for us," said Tarus, as quoted by Citizen TV on Wednesday, August 9.
The lady said her daily hustle is making porridge and mandazi for sale, adding that it is from this business that she managed to raise the funds.
She said she wanted to change her life through the education scholarship, but her dreams were cut short by greedy leaders whose children are already abroad.
"This was a hustler government. As a hustler, I struggled to get the money. I sell porridge and mandazi. I struggled to raise the money for a better life for myself then someone whose children are not here in Kenya squanders it," said Tarus.
Uasin Gishu County leadership held a sit-in with parents and students affected by the controversial scholarships.
The affected groups were up in arms demanding their money back as they accused the leaders of taking them for a ride.
Tarus caught the eye of many as she lectured the leaders about putting on a straight face as they lied to them.
