After reporting the incident to Galmagala Police Station, he embarked on a journey back to Garissa, and it was on their way that their vehicle was ambushed in what is believed to be retaliatory attacks.
Yakub explained that the well-coordinated attack lasted at least 30 minutes as his security and officers from the elite Quick Response Unit (QRU) returned fire to repulse the gunmen.
"Msafara wetu ukashambuliwa na majambazi uzuri tulikuwa na gari ya polisi ama askari wa QRU.Gari zetu za mbele zikapata riasi mingi sana. Zile za nyuma wakatoroka wakarudi Galmagala na mimi nikakuja Dagega," he narrated.
He added that he immediately reported the incident to Bura Police Station, where he talked to the OCPD, identified as Mwendwa.
The legislator said he had observed there was tension in various parts of Fafi despite the relative peace.
Leaders in the region have met in Garissa with Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale is expected to be in the meeting to address the inter-clan clashes.
Earlier, the MP courted controversy after he called for the presidential term limit to be scrapped and the basic parameter to be one's age.
With the backing of other UDA lawmakers, Salah said he was working on a constitutional amendment to replace the two-term limit with an age limit of 75 years.
Defending his move, the lawmaker said that the two-term limit has robbed of Kenyans committed leaders who are unable to deliver on their programs within the ten-year tenure fully.
