Ugandan Church To Attempt Guinness World Record For Longest Applause: "Clap For Jesus"

• The current record is held by Stevens Clark, who achieved the feat on July 20, 2019, during the renowned Festival of Awesomeness in the UK
• Clocking an astounding two hours and five minutes of continuous applause, Stevens Clark's achievement has stood unchallenged for years

The Phaneroo Ministries International, led by Apostle Grace Lubega in Uganda, is gearing up to make history and beat the standing Guinness World Record for the lengthiest round of applause.

Gearing to beat standing record

The current record is held by Stevens Clark, who achieved it in 2019, during the Awesomeness Festival in the UK, with applause lasting an astonishing two hours and five minutes.

At a press conference held at the Phaneroo International Ministries in Ntinda, Kampala, pastors Joe Rwabosa and Ronnie Mutebi unveiled the ambitious Clap for Jesus Challenge.

The challenge aims to surpass the existing record and is anticipated to last an incredible three hours.

The team from Phaneroo Ministries International has diligently prepared for this momentous event.

They applied to the Guinness World Records organisation and carefully followed the guidelines set forth by the organisation in Uganda.

The guidelines include specific sound levels, synchronised clapping, designated timers, and required witnesses, among other conditions.

Church to applause for three hours

On Sunday, July 30, 2023, the historic event will commence at the Uganda Manufacturers Association showgrounds in Lugogo, Kampala.

Participants must maintain their applause for three continuous hours to break the existing record.

One of the senior pastors, Ronnie Mutebi, expressed the significance of the challenge, stating:

"The world record challenge gives us the perfect opportunity to make history for God as it will be the longest applause ever made for the love of God."

The event holds special importance for the ministry as they approach their ninth anniversary on August 5, 2023, and it serves as a unique way to express their gratitude to God for the incredible journey they have experienced over the last nine years.

If successful, Apostle Grace Lubega and Phaneroo Ministries International will join the ranks of other Ugandans who have previously achieved world records.

Other records held by Ugandans

These include Raymond Kahuma, who holds the record for the largest Ugandan Rolex (chapati), weighing 204.6 kg.

Also, King Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV of Tooro Kingdom, the youngest reigning Monarch who was crowned at the tender age of three, replacing Mswati III of Swaziland, who ascended the throne at the age of eighteen.

Uganda is no stranger to world records, boasting achievements such as the shortest hostage rescue mission on July 4, 1976.

This was when Israeli Forces successfully raided Entebbe International Airport and rescued one hundred of its nationals who had been hijacked by pro-Palestinian militants.

Furthermore, the country takes pride in the accomplishments of "Golden Boy" Joshua Cheptegei, who holds the world record for the fastest run of 10,000 meters (male).

He achieved this feat on October 7, 2020, in Valencia, Spain, clocking an impressive 26 minutes and 11.00 seconds.
