"I met a man to whom I revealed I was living with HIV. Surprisingly, he remained interested in me despite being HIV-negative. When I was around 21 years old, I became pregnant. However, in a surprising turn of events, the father responsible for the pregnancy denied involvement," the HIV educator told NTV Uganda.
She was left stranded after being abandoned by the love of his life, without support throughout her pregnancy journey.
It was not easy for her, as she explained, but she was glad to give birth to a healthy bundle of joy finally.
"The man who fathered my child and initially denied any involvement only appeared after I had given birth. He gave me a mere KSh 391 and then disappeared once more.
He returned when the child was nearly three years old, and we rekindled our relationship. Unfortunately, history repeated itself as I became pregnant for the second time, and once again, he denied any responsibility for the pregnancy," she added.
As though that was not enough, the Ugandan lady recalled being kicked out by her father because of her disease.
Nalukwago said her ruthless dad mercilessly removed her from their home, saying she would infect the whole family.
In a separate story, a man was fined KSh 850,000 for disclosing the HIV status of a friend on a WhatsApp group.
A man named FO faced legal consequences after disclosing another man's HIV status in a political WhatsApp group.
FO was ordered to pay KSh 850,000 as compensation for revealing PMM's HIV status to the political WhatsApp group and causing him pain.
The HIV/AIDS tribunal, led by Carolyne Mboku, reiterated an individual's HIV status was a private and confidential matter.
