Nairobi - Former chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Wafula Chebukati holds that the 2022 General Election, and specifically the presidential vote, was free and fair.
While making a presentation on Wednesday, August 23, Chebukati appreciated that futuristic technology played an integral role in sealing the loopholes for electoral flaws.
This, in his own assessment, helped him oversee the most credible, verifiable, freest, and fairest vote in independent Kenya.
While taking pride in his chairmanship of the commission at the time, Chebukati explained how the question of transmission, a vital aspect in the whole process, was properly handled, thus enabling the elections management body to outdo itself.

"Results transmission is key and is the last mile test. And as per the law, which stipulates that the presidential election results must be electronically transmitted, we processed and transmitted them in the quickest and speedy manner.
The forms containing correct and accurate election result data aligned to each polling station were scanned. The tally results were then availed to stakeholders and the public to view, and this we cooperated with the telecommunication service providers," recalled Chebukati in his presentation.
