Machakos - Wavinya Ndeti, governor of Machakos county has shown her heart of gold after coming to the aid of a hopeless young girl.

The politician was at a bursary disbursement event in Matungulu East, Machakos, when she called up the little girl.

She asked the girl about her education journey and financial information.

The girl said she was poised to join Maasai Mara University (MMU), disclosing her one-year fee structure was KSh 102,000.

"I will pay that myself," Wavinya sternly said as the guests celebrated her kind act.

Wavinya uses salary to pay university fees

Wavinya also portrayed her motherly side as she comforted the overwhelmed girl who had asked for assistance.

The governor implored her not to cry as she had come to her mother, and where the mother was, everything would be alright.

"I will write her a check. My salary has been completely utilised here," Wavinya hilariously said.

Wavinya asked the young lady how long she would be in the university, and she said four years.

She assured her she would educate her throughout the years, warning her not to play games when she goes to school.

"I'll be speaking to the teachers. Even your mum will not come near because I'm the one who will discipline you. Don't let me down. Even my kids at home, I don't do things for them just like that. When I pay, you study. Bring me good results. And I need to see your results every semester," she said.

Similarly, Mike Sonko fulfilled his promise by paying school fees for a needy Machakos girl and admitting her to school.

Sonko bought her uniforms, cleared her balance, and even took her out for lunch before taking her to school.

Netizens commended the philanthropic leader for always coming through for people who could fend for themselves.
