Nyeri - President William Ruto has maintained that he will not engage Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga in any power-sharing deal or a handshake.

Speaking in Tetu, Nyeri county, on Monday, August 7, Ruto accused Raila of hoping for a handshake with his Kenya Kwanza administration.

"Na kwa sababu wamezoea fujo, walivuruga Daniel Moi hadi Moi akawapatia mambo ya cooperation, wakakuja wakasumbua Mwai Kibaki mpaka wakaenda na nusu mkate, wakakuja wakazungusha Uhuru Kenyatta mpaka wakaenda na handshake. "Because they like violence, they disturbed all the former presidents and made sure they joined their governments through the backdoor)," Ruto said.

Why Raila Odinga is leading maandamano

However, Ruto insisted that he will not enter into a coalition government with his political nemesis despite the intensified pressure through mass protests.

"Hii ya mahustlers watapata kitu kweli? Mimi nimewaambia hii yenye iko ni ya mahustlers. Hakuna mtu atapata chochote, hakuna handshake. (Will they succeed with this hustler government? I have already told them that they have no place in our government. There is no handshake,)" Ruto added.

Ruto said that the only political debt he has with Raila is sending him back to his Bondo home in Siaya county.

"Hakuna nusu mkate, ile deni tuko nayo na mtu wa kitendawili ni vile atafika Bondo. Kama ni kwa wheelbarrow, kama ni kwa gari la moshi bora afike nyumbani. Na awache kutusumbua. (There is no power-sharing. The only political debt I have with Raila is taking him back to his rural home be it on the wheelbarrow, train, or any means but we don't have him to distract us."

Why Mutahi Ngunyi fell out with Azimio

In a related story, TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi officially crossed over to Ruto's Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

For quite some time, Ngunyi has been an ardent supporter of the Raila.

Mutahi Ngunyi's change of heart

Taking to his official Twitter handle on the evening of Monday, August 7, Ngunyi disclosed that his defection to Ruto's camp resulted from a change of mind.

"Public notice: I have defected to William Ruto. I misjudged him using the Dynasty lens. But if the facts change, you must change your mind. And only a fool does not change his mind. I started project #HustlerNation. Now I must complete it. Iko swali?" Ngunyi tweeted.

Earlier, Ngunyi admitted on his official Twitter account that he was a gun for hire after paying allegiance to the head of state.
