TUKO.co.ke takes a look at Kibet's journey since his ordeal began in November 2022, when he initially dismissed chest pain and a persistent cold as minor ailments.
Despite alarming signs such as weight loss and swelling in his feet, he soldiered on, unaware of the severity of his condition
It wasn't until February 2023 that he sought professional help, leading to a diagnosis of acute abdominal obstruction and subsequent surgeries.
Throughout his hospitalisation at the Abeer Medical Centre in Qatar, Kibet utilised TikTok to share his journey, drawing strength from his brother and an ever-growing online community.
His candid posts garnered widespread support, highlighting the importance of timely medical intervention and the power of solidarity in the face of adversity.
However, tragedy struck on Saturday, April 6, when Kibet's life was cut short in a heartbreaking accident. After a brief phone call with a friend, he ventured into the sea to retrieve his phone.
Despite efforts to rescue him, he succumbed to the water's depths, leaving behind a shocked and grief-stricken community.
In response to the devastating news, Kibet's friends in Qatar and Kenya mobilised, forming a WhatsApp group to coordinate funeral arrangements and support for his family.
Plans are underway to repatriate his body to Kenya, where he will be laid to rest amidst mourning loved ones and cherished memories.
His advocacy and resilience continue to echo through the hearts of those he touched, reaffirming the importance of cherishing every moment and fostering a culture of support and compassion.
