A boda boda rider has been suspended for three months for allegedly contravening the rules of the Pader Town Council Boda Boda Association.

Which specific law did Geoffrey Amuti break?

On Wednesday, May 22, Okot Geoffrey Amuti was found guilty of contravening Article 14, Section 17 of the association's by-laws.

The by-law strictly prohibits members from engaging in romantic relationships with the spouses of fellow members or connecting them with others.

"Prohibits members from disorganising the family of his or her fellow boda boda through falling in love with the wife of his or her comrade or being in a position to connect a comrade’s wife to someone," the section of the law reads in part.

What customers should do about the suspended boda boda rider

Oyoo Ben Mark, chairman of the association's disciplinary committee, warned the public against using Amuti's motorcycle.

“The office is therefore informing all members and customers that the above-mentioned person is out of boda boda work until you are informed in writing. Failure to comply will lead to fines or further action as prescribed in the constitution," Mark said, as quoted by Chimreport.

Mark argued that Amuti's being caught in a steamy affair with the wife of a fellow group member was the highest level of betrayal, and such action would not be tolerated.

“This is a clear violation of our code of conduct and a betrayal of the trust that exists among our members. We cannot tolerate such behaviour, and we will take all necessary steps to protect the integrity of our association," he added.
