While speaking to Citizen TV, the residents cited an instance where a land grabber took their land and built on it, sparking a legal battle for years before they got their land back.

" The signpost was put up to protect our land, so no one can come and build on it like the first person. According to our culture, we put the signpost Kampinyasi Secondary School to show our desire for a school. Maybe we made a mistake; we should've proposed school," one resident said.

How did the netizens react

This development has sparked a lot of reactions from netizens expressing suprise over the matter.

Brian Olande:

"So ghost school with a gate?"

Ericky Waren:

"When will poor Kenyans wake up?"

Mr.Kifaki said:

"This has been paid, we know this game."

Joel Kamiru:

"What is the definition of a school? If there is land allocated for the construction of a school its okay but that is not a school yet."

Thomas Sankara

"No one explains how it became a voting centre with presidential votes that actually counted."

Why were the claims made?

In a report aired on NTV Kenya, a school recorded to be Kampinyasi secondary School was found to not exist.

Despite a huge signboard proudly announcing the presence of a secondary school, the only proof that there is a school is the well-labelled gate in one of the bushes.

In the premises of the school lies a landscape adorned with magnificent trees, reminiscent of a research facility.

According to the report, the school does not exist anywhere, with no single structure or students to show for it. And no, it’s not because of banditry, which is rampant in the region.

The school reportedly have board members and school fees accounts but no active learners to show where all the funds are directed.
