Francis Ogolla's Final Military Gun Salute To Be Held On Saturday, April 20 At Ulinzi Sports Complex

The government has announced a military honour ceremony for Chief of Defence (CDF) Francis Ogolla on Saturday, April 20, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata from 1 pm.

In a statement by the Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said Francis Ogolla will be honoured according to the military procedures.

The CS further said a fully detailed burial programme will be made public later.

"In accordance with military procedures, the Military Honours ceremony will be conducted on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang'ata from 1pm. The honours will include the church service, military parade and a 19-gun salute," Duale stated.

Duale also stated that President William Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other key state officials from government arms will be in attendance.

"President William Ruto, the commander-in-chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, will attend the ceremony. Others will be Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, senior government officials the leadership of Parliament, the judiciary, political leaders, commanders of the security sector and members of the diplomatic corps," Duale stated.

Where will Ogolla be buried?

Ogolla's remains will be airlifted to his home in Ng'iya village, Alego Usonga sub-county in Siaya county, on Sunday, April 21, for burial.

The funeral service will also take place at the same location.
