The term "blessings in disguise" has often been used in settings where a would-be negative situation becomes the much-needed stepping stone.

No one understands that saying now better than Embu businesswoman Dolly Patron, whose business has benefited from trolling.

Dolly Patron trolled by Gibson Murage

It all started when Dolly Patron commented on entrepreneur Gibson Murage Gitonga's post, trying to market her non-stick sufurias.

Instead of skipping the comment or giving a kind reply, Gitonga gave a savage response that did not auger well with his followers.

The incident shared by lawyer Wahome Thuku quickly went viral, with many condemning Gitonga's behaviour.

"Given your public status now, it's very important to get the message first before typing a response," the lawyer advised.

As it turns out, that was the jolt her business needed as members of the public and prominent personalities rallied behind her.

Celebrities supported Dolly's businesss

Among those who supported her was digital strategist Dennis Itumbi who made an order for some of Dolly's sufurias.

"Making mistakes, some grave, is part of the learning process in these streets. Learn, internalize the lessons and keep going," Itumbi wrote.

Social media influencer Karangu Muraya also offered to post for her on his page for free three times.

Dolly will also meet Kikuyu comedian Guka wa Nairobi Muthee Kiengei on Sunday.

Gitonga apologised for trolling

The other happy ending in the story is that Gitonga apologised for the mistake.

He blamed the mishap on his social media handlers, explaining that he was in China and not the one handling issues.

The entrepreneur also assured the public that measures would be taken internally to prevent such incidents in the future.

As a gesture of goodwill, Gitonga promised to buy Dolly's sufurias when he returned home.
