Kiambu - Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has expressed his delight and reprieve after a chopper he was flying in was forced to make an emergency landing.
In a video shared on Wednesday, May 8, by Mwaura's office, he disclosed to police officers at the scene that he was in the company of Kenya Red Cross Secretary General Idriss Ahmed.
Mwaura actively interacted with the residents of Gishungo, Kikuyu constituency, as he waited for local officials to arrive at the scene.

He teased the local children, telling them that the mishap had given them an opportunity to see a chopper at close range.
"So it will stay here, okay... until tomorrow. You will guard it, won't you? Children, don't to scratch the helicopter. But God has helped today; you have seen a chopper at close range... yes, what will you tell people today? You saw what? A chopper," Mwaura told the excited crowd.
In a statement, the government disclosed that Mwaura was returning from official engagements in Kisumu county.
The statement explained that poor weather conditions in the area caused the scary incident.
"The spokesperson Isaac Mwaura is safe. The helicopter plane that he and Idriss Ahmed, the Kenya Red Cross SG, were using from Nyando, had to make an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu Constituency, due to poor weather conditions. They had gone to give relief to affected people," the government said.
Mwaura took to social media to assure Kenyans that he and other plane occupants were safe.
"I am safe, fellow Kenyans. Our plane had to make an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu Constituency, due to poor weather conditions. We arrived home safely, and we thank GOD for this. Happy World Red Cross Day," Mwaura said.
Elsewhere, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen was involved in a plane crash in the Mwachon area, Eldama Ravine.
The CS was accompanied by longtime ally and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) board chairman Caleb Kositany.
Murkomen and his delegation, including Kositany, attended a funeral in the Torongo area.
The group of four men were leaving for Migori when their chopper crashed while lifting off from the ground.
Confirming the incident, Baringo County Police Commander Julius Kiragu said the chopper was trying to take off when it crashed after developing mechanical problems.
