Jalang'o Denies Conning Nairobi Author KSh 40k For Interview On Bonga Na Jalas: "Won't Pay"

• Nairobi author Daniel Musau Muli claimed he sent Jalang'o KSh 40,000 for the promotion of his book on his YouTube channel
• The book promo was supposed to run for four days afterwhich the author would be invited to the show for a live pre-launch interview
• The author allegedly demanded for a refund after Jalang'o sent his subordinate to do the interview
• The MP asserted that his company could have refunded the author if he had refused to do the interview

A Nairobi-based author has accused Lang'ata MP Phelix Odiwuor of allegedly conning him KSh 40,000 in December 2022.

What allegedly happened?

Daniel Musau Muli claimed he had contracted Jalang'o to promote a book on his YouTube channel during Bonga na Jalas show.

According to the agreement, Jalang'o was paid for his services which included running four-day adverts and a live prelaunch interview.

However, Jalang'o did not show up for the interview but instead sent his subordinate.

"After payment of KSh 40,000, the said vendor (author) was unable to continue with the contract due to unavoidable circumstance hence breach," he claimed in a sworn affidavit.

What Jalang'o said

The MP took to his social media to respond to the allegations saying that the complainant was aware that he no longer did interviews.

The interview with the subordinate didn't bring the expected results and the author demanded for a refund to which Jalang'o said he agreed on a 50% refund.

"A guy comes for interview, he is told I don’t do interviews anymore and that I am busy ,agrees to be hosted by the host, later comes and says the interview did not do well, wants his money back, he is refunded 50% now claims he was conned," Jalang'o said

He added that the author should have refused to be hosted by his subordinate if he was uncomfortable with it.

Jalang'o added that his company can afford to refund the author but they won't reimburse the remaining amount of money to him.

"As a company we can afford but we have company policies… we will not pay. Then ask him to share with you M-Pesa message where he sent me money. But I think this is his best sale strategy, let him share the book link, maybe he will sell copies," he said.

Jalang'o responds to wash wash allegations.

In 2022, when Jalang'o was still a presenter at KISS FM he disclosed that being linked to money launderers, popularly known as wash wash, was the worst accusation he had ever dealt with.

He noted that people had said all sorts of things about him.

Jalang'o was linked to the infamous activity in August 2021, a day after he posted photos of the progress of a house he was building in Kitengela.

This was a week after unveiling another one he had finished in the village.
