A video of Jeff Mwathi's mother, Ann, cleaning her son's grave has stirred debate surrounding bereavement and grief.

Ann is seen washing Jeff's tombstone and marble monument with water and a cleaning agent in a widely shared video on X.

The grief-stricken mother meticulously clears dust from the surface of the elaborate monument where Jeff rests in Likia, Nakuru county. She smiled as she sang along to a song.

Reacting to the clip, social media users expressed sadness over Mwathi's tragic death. They also sympathised with Ann and pleaded that she be left to grief and cope in her way.

What happened to Jeff Mwathi?

Jeff died on February 22, 2023, in Kasarani, Nairobi, after visiting the home of mugithi singer DJ Fatxo.

The late interior designer fell from the home on the 12th floor of Redwood Apartments in Kasarani.

He was buried a week after his death and then exhumed following public outcry.

DJ Fatxo, who was at the centre of the investigations over his friend's death, was later cleared of any wrongdoing.
