A 29-year-old Kenyan man named Joel Kandie was killed on Princess Highway in Yallah Wollongong, Australia, while getting out of his car.
Alfred Koech, a Kenyan man based in Australia, told TUKO.co.ke that the incident occurred at 10pm as Kandie was heading for a night shift.
According to Wavefm.com.au, the deceased had stepped out of his car to check on a busy M1 highway when he was hit by another vehicle.

Eyewitnesses narrated that Kandie had crashed his car into a concrete barrier on the highway, prompting him to get out.
As the young Kenyan stepped out, a speeding car struck him, killing him instantly.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family during this difficult time," Koech wrote on Facebook.
A Facebook post by Edwin Kiprotich indicated that Kandie had only been in Sydney, Australia, for a year.
The 52-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that killed the pedestrian was not injured.
He was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory testing as traffic police officers processed the scene.
Kandie's body is lying in a morgue awaiting an autopsy report to be prepared for the coroner.
"The family is working on repatriating his body back home for burial," Koech said.
The accident caused a traffic snarl-up as southbound lanes of the M1 Motorway were closed for several hours.
Officers have asked anyone with dashcam footage or information regarding the accident to hand it over to help with investigations.
Kandie's death brings back memories of two Kenyan students who perished in a road accident in January.
Humphrey Ruto and Penuel Meli were driving on a highway in Perth, Australia when their vehicle lost control and rammed into a pole.
The vehicle burst into flames, consuming the two foreign-based students from Nandi County.
Emergency services were called to the accident scene at about 2.10 am, but they could not save the two gentlemen.
