He highlighted the desperate situation faced by many families who have sought refuge in public primary schools, secondary schools, and churches.
The businessman also pointed out that the floods had swept away some schools, bridges, and roads.
"Please consider the postponement of schools reopening until the situation is back to normalcy," read part of the letter.
Agufa called upon people of goodwill, the government, and NGOs to assist the affected families during this difficult time.
He emphasized the need for support, considering the destruction witnessed in different parts of the country.
When contacted for comments, Agufa told TUKO.co.ke that he was devastated by the heartbreaking stories he had seen on TV.
"It pains to see images of people searching for their loved ones swept away by the floods, and the destruction of homes, businesses, and classrooms," he said.
Agufa hopes the government will give affected communities more time to prepare and recover before schools can safely reopen.
His request comes at a crucial time, as many parts of the country are grappling with the floods' aftermath.
The Ministry of Education has yet to respond to Agufa's letter, but his plea resonates with many who are concerned about flood victims' welfare.
