A woman, identified as @ess.astir on TikTok, found herself in a frustrating situation when she attempted to exchange old KSh 1000 currency notes.
Having stumbled upon the outdated currency, the woman sought advice from her followers on TikTok, who suggested she exchange them for newer notes.
Armed with this guidance, she made her way to KCB bank, hoping to convert the old notes. However, her hopes were dashed when the bank declined her request.

According to her, the bank stated that they were unable to exchange the outdated notes and advised her to simply hold onto them.
Disappointed, the woman recounted her experience in a video shared on her TikTok handle, expressing her frustration.
"They were like, we don't exchange. Those are now useless. The best you can do now is to just keep them," recounted the young lady.
Further speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the lady revealed she found the old notes while going through old clothes she was no longer wearing.
"I was going through my old things, the clothes I do not wear for long, that's when I came across the old notes. I felt like crying," she stated.

In a related story, a Kenyan man stunned many people after sharing a bundle of old one-thousand shilling banknotes.
The man took to social media, asking for advice on where to sell or dispose of the money after the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) exchange window closed four years ago.
The CBK unveiled the new generation banknotes in June 2019, giving Kenyans until October 2019 to exchange the old ones.
The man revealed that the bundle of old-generation banknotes amounted to KSh 30,000.
