Former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has had a change of heart in his criticism of Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga.

During an interview on Vybez Radio, the former lawmaker admitted to having a different perspective of the veteran opposition leader.

Why is Ngunjiri having a change of heart

Ngunjiri claimed that he was now understanding the former premier's call for equitable distribution of revenue.

The politician, a proponent of the now-controversial one man, one vote, one shilling revenue allocation formulae, observed that the problem is not limited to the populous Mt Kenya region.

He pointed out that most minority groups were already receiving equalisation funds from the national government and criticised this practice as unfair.

"What Raila Odinga has been fighting for, we are now starting to see. We were not seeing what Raila Odinga was fighting for; we are seeing it now. When he says the bread is not being shared equally, it is the same thing we are saying about the people from the mountain and other regions because it is not only the mountain where the bread is not being shared equally. And you know the government has put measures in place where people in the minority are given a lot of favouritism," he stated.

Why Ngunjiri wants peace with Uhuru

Earlier, the former MP joined the faction within the larger Kenya Kwanza coalition that sought to reconcile with former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

While admitting to rifts in the ruling coalition, the former lawmaker observed that his team erred in fighting Uhuru.

He, however, blamed it on politics, arguing that people were tearing into each other, but after that, people should reconcile.

Ngunjiri stated that he had forgiven the retired head of state and asked him to reciprocate if he wronged him.
