Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen is in pursuit of a driver of a Mercedes Benz car who was spotted driving recklessly on Mombasa Road.

In a statement he shared on his X account on Monday, April 22, the CS appreciated a concerned citizen who shared the tip-off with his office and promised to take action.

Primary findings indicate the car, Mercedes-Benz KCX 959B class E-250, is owned by one James Gathogo Njeri,.

"Mr. James Gathogo Njeri this is how your car white Mercedes Benz KCX 959B class E-250 was being driven on Mombasa road in one of those “where is the Minister” moments, " Murkomen stated.

Murkomen assured the public that his ministry would do everything in its capacity to ensure the driver was caught.

"We are concerned and a responsible citizen has alerted us. We shall do what we must,"

What were the two men doing?

In a video shared by the CS, two men are seen hanging out on both sides of the window, ignoring the concerns raised by a woman inside the car.

" Nyinyi ni wajinga, mko na akili nyinyi? Mtakufa nyinyi. Huyu anaweza anguka.(You guys are jokers, do you have brains? you will die, this one might fall)," the woman lamented.

A male voice echoing the woman's concern directed his concern to one of the two men, but it too fell on deaf ears.

The driver continued to accelerate as the two pulled their dangerous stunts unbothered by the increasing outcry from inside the car.

Murkomen on cause of accidents

During the National Road and Safety Action Plan on Wednesday, April 17, Murkomen blamed the boda boda sector for increased accidents on the road and ignorance of traffic rules.

His remarks came at the dawn when six people were killed along the Narok-Mulot road in the Silanga area, and seven others were injured after two vehicles collided head-on, on Monday, April 22, in Narok County.
