Ogina questioned why the ODM leader was interested in the seat, yet Kenyans voted for him to fight for their rights.
He insisted that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader should be defeated by a considerable margin, arguing that he will perform nothing significant at AUC to benefit Kenyans.
"I want him to be defeated because we voted for him to defend Kenyans' issues. I don't know what he is going to do at the African Union," Ogina said.
However, other residents expressed confidence that the former prime minister would win the continental seat.
Djibouti fronted a candidate in the oncoming African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship vote.
The vote -attracting three East African candidates so far- is set to be held in February 2025.
Djibouti fielded its Foreign Affairs Minister, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, to face off with Kenya's Raila Odinga and Fawzia Adam of Somalia.
The country's presidential office announced Youssouf's candidature in an official communique published on Tuesday, April 9.
