The university gave each bereaved relative of the 11 students a cheque for KSh 181 818 as financial assistance.
"The director of Student Affairs leads the distribution of assistance cheques, affirming support to the affected. Chairperson of the Student Governing Council, Robert Rhova Bonaya, urges continued support for the bereaved families," said the university in a statement.
The university head further called on the students and parents to continue praying for other victims of the accident,
He revealed to those in the meeting that Oscar, a student, was still battling for his life, adding that he's yet to leave the intensive care unit (ICU).
"We also have one serious case, a student; you still remember Oscar. Oscar is still hospitalised and he is actually in ICU from that time and what I would urge is that we keep on praying," Wainaina said.
On Tuesday, March 19, the government and other emergency response agencies airlifted 16 of the seriously injured students to Nairobi for specialised treatment.
The university has also set up an information desk to help the affected families and the institution's fraternity get information about their loved ones, classmates, and colleagues.
Wainaina visited the injured students in the hospital and indicated that they had dispatched teams to Mombasa and Nairobi to assess the situation, help the survivors, and provide accurate information.
