Late General Ogolla's Memorial Service Postponed, New Date To Be Announced

• The KDF announced the postponement of the late CDF Ogolla's memorial service that was scheduled for this week
• Ogolla's family, in conjunction with KDF, expressed gratitude to the president and country leaders for the support they showed during Ogolla's burial
• General Ogolla was buried on April 21, just 72 hours after his death, in accordance with his final wish

The Kenya Defence Forces in collaboration with the family of the late general Francis Ogolla have expressed gratitude for the immense support they received during Ogolla's final send off.

" We would like to thank his excellency President William Ruto, the Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces for leading the nation at both Military Honours memorial service in Nairobi County and the State Funeral Ceremony in Siaya County," the statement read in part.

Postponement of Ogolla's memorial Service

The late CDF general Ogolla's memorial service, which was scheduled for April 26 at Ulinzi Sports Complex Stadium, has been postponed.

The KDF, in conjunction with Ogolla's family, announced that the new date will be announced in the coming days.

The statement did not mention the reason for the postponement of the service.

General Ogolla's send off

CDF Ogolla was laid to rest on April 21 at his home in Ngi'ya Siaya County.

He was buried 72 hours after his death, which occurred after a plane crash in Kaben, Elgeyo Marakwet. Family stated that it was his wish to be buried as soon as possible.

Ogolla had also left instructions not to be buried in a coffin but a sheet.

During his sendoff President William Ruto said that he was proud that he chose Ogolla as the CDF.

• Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale eulogised Ogolla as an upright man saying that he would never try to overturn William Ruto win.
• President William Ruto had claimed that Ogolla appeared at Bomas on August 15 to overturn the election results, but he still appointed him as CDF.
• During Ogolla's burial ceremony, Siaya County Senator Oburu Odinga asked Ogolla's son, Joel Rabuku, to allow a probe into his father's death.
• In response to that, President William Ruto welcomed a thorough probe into the late general's death.
