Justice Joel Ngugi handed them each 30 years in prison, Radio Maisha reported.

Ndung'u and his co-accused were found guilty of killing Lucy Njambi, who was at the time an estranged wife of the former MCA.

The court was convinced that the evidence adduced before the court rightly implicated the trio in the murder after 38 witnesses lined up to testify against them to prove beyond reasonable doubt that they were behind the machinations to end the woman's life.

Reacting to the sentence, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, who followed up on the case since 2018, said justice had ultimately been served.

"Now Lucy Njambi can rest, rest in eternal peace awaiting the accused in the next world for the judgement in the records of the books of heaven!! The last Chapter of this book has finally been closed after 6 years. Rest well Lucy Njambi," she said.

How former Nairobi MCA's ex-wife died after abduction

Ndung'u is said to have contracted people who abducted Njambi from her home in Thindigua and subjected her to torture before she died in hospital.

She was sexually assaulted and forcefully made to imbibe sulphuric solid acid.

The deceased would later be doused in acid and left helpless in a coffee plantation, where a passerby picked her up and took her to the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.

She died at the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she had been transferred for specialised treatment.

Njambi left behind a son.
