Members of the National Assembly have approved a motion proposed by Bumula MP, Jack Wamboka, to impeach Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi.
Wamboka accused Linturi of mismanaging funds at the agriculture ministry and thus demonstrating incompetence.
In the voting process on Thursday, May 2, in solidarity with Wamboka, 149 MPs voted for the motion to oust the embattled CS, while 36 voted to oppose it.

Only one-third of MPs, representing 117 MPs, are required to approve an impeachment motion against a CS.
A total of 188 MPs cast their votes, while three were absent. The proponents represented 79.26%, while the opponents represented 19.15%.
Speaker Moses Wetang'ula had difficulty calming down members of the National Assembly who joined Kathiani MP Robert Mbui in chanting 'Linturi must go'.
According to article I52 of the constitution on impeachment, the Assembly shall appoint a select committee comprising eleven of its members to investigate the matter, and the select committee, within ten days, shall report to the Assembly whether it finds the allegations against the Cabinet Secretary to be substantiated.
Afterwards, the committee will further report its findings to the National Assembly, where two-thirds of the members will have to vote for his impeachment.
According to the latest Tifa survey, Linturi was ranked the worst-performing Cabinet Secretary, garnering a 25% score.
Interior CS Kithure Kindiki was ranked as the best-performing CS with a B closely followed by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi with a C+.
Linturi had earlier termed the impeachment motion by the National Assembly as cheap propaganda and threatened to list those involved in the fake fertiliser scandal.
Linturi had blamed the opposition coalition Azimio for the spread of fake fertiliser in the country as farmers counted loses.
According to Linturi, the fake fertiliser scandal was a distraction from his great work in the Ministry of Agriculture.
