Nairobi - The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a partial closure of roads in Nairobi county.
In a statement on Wednesday, April 24, KURA said it had partially closed the roads due to heavy rains on the night of Tuesday, April 23.

"Following the heavy rains experienced last night across the country, the following roads within Nairobi County have been heavily affected, leading to partial closure," KURA said.
KURA warned motorists to exercise caution while using the affected roads.
"Motorists are warned of flooding along Mombasa Road at Cabanas, Thika Road at Githurai/ Kahawa bridge. The traffic police and our technical team are on the ground to direct traffic and enhance the safety of Motorists. We shall keep you posted as the situation unfolds," Kura said.
Among the roads that have been closed include;
1. Thika Road at Githurai/Kahawa bridge
2. Kasarani-Mwiki Road at Mwiki bridge.
3. Aerodrome Road
4. Kapenguria Road
5. UN Avenue – Runda
6. Mombasa Road at Cabanas
KURU said police and other technical team are on the ground trying to resolve the mess caused the heavy rains.
"The traffic police and our technical team are on the ground to direct traffic and enhance the safety of Motorists. We shall keep you posted as the situation unfolds," they stated.
Elsewhere, eighteen people who had been trapped in Mathare due to the ongoing heavy rains were rescued by the Kenya Red Cross.
On Wednesday, April 24, the Kenya Red Cross said 18 people were rescued in Mathare 4A after being stranded due to floodwaters.
Among those rescued were 11 adults and seven children trapped in the floodwaters.
