According to a report by TV47 Digital, other occupants did not leave their houses, as the fire had begun from the first floor of their North View apartment.
To save himself, the man tried to jump from his balcony to the next building three meters apart, but unfortunately missed his target, after failing to find a place to support himself.
He is said to have hit his head first on the ground and died on the spot. His body was taken to the morgue awaiting autopsy and identification.
As the police investigation continue to establish the cause of the morning fire, property of unknown value had already been destroyed when the county fire brigade arrived at the scene and managed to put out the fire.
The incident comes barely two days after a man jumped from a four storey building in Mombasa after his friends scared him.
The man, who was shocked, fell off the building after seeing three of his friends at his doorstep.
The man was admitted at the Coast General Hospital after breaking his legs following the incident.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers in Mombasa are in pursuit of the three 'friends' following the incident in Nyali.
