Nairobi - A struggling woman has tearfully shared her life challenges as she tries to make ends meet for her family.

Lilian Makozwe vividly said she endured a challenging childhood in her home village in Vihiga county.

Makozwe said she had to work on the farm when she was still young to ensure her siblings had food at the end of the day.

The young lady said her tough life made her leave her home village and travel to Nairobi for greener pastures.

"When I left, I was coming to Kibera. I had only heard of the place but had never been there. I was coming to look for work and escape the mistreatment back home. It was never as easy here as I anticipated, but I was determined to do my best to make a living rather than go back home," she told Citizen TV.

She tried a few menial jobs in Rongai and Kiserian, but the pay was little, and the work was too much.

She resorted to living on the streets, where life was also challenging, and this was the beginning of her becoming a mother.

Makozwe, who lives in Marurui, said it was on the streets where she gave birth to three kids with different men.

"I did not want to be close to the men in my circle, but it was almost inevitable because of circumstances. I do not know all my kids' fathers, but they do not belong to the same man," she emotionally revealed.
