A newly released report has published interesting insights about the trends of energy uptake in Kenya.
The Biannual Energy and Petroleum Statistics Report for the financial year 2023/2024 by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) listed Nairobi as the region with the highest demand of electricity, consuming a total of 2,293.95 Gwh of electricity between June and December 2023.

This represented 44.07% of the country's total energy consumption.
"Covering parts of Kajiado, Machakos, and Makueni counties, the region stands out with its dense concentration of large and medium-sized industries and micro and small enterprises, making it the commercial hub of both the country and the East Africa Community region," the report read.
The coast region was ranked second after utilising 930.05 GWh (17.87%), as Rift Valley ranked third at 705.48 GWh.
North Eastern Kenya consumed 561.20 GwH, Mt. Kenya (336.76 GwH), and Western Kenya (278.43 GWh), as South Nyanza ranked last with 99.92 GwH of power consumption.
KenGen continued to dominate the energy market with a share of 62.24%
